Terms of use

Last updated: July 2026.

Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using ScreenTimes you agree to be bound by these terms of use. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. We reserve the right to update these terms periodically; continued use of the site following a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

The directory

ScreenTimes is a free, public directory of independent and art-house cinemas in the United States. Cinema listings, film metadata, and showtimes are compiled from open public data sources and editorial research, and are provided for informational and discovery purposes only. While we work hard to keep the directory accurate, schedules and ticketing change frequently and last-minute. Always confirm showtimes and ticket availability with the venue directly before traveling.

Tickets and refunds

ScreenTimes does not sell tickets. We do not handle bookings, refunds, exchanges, or seating disputes. Ticketing relationships are entirely between you and the cinema you choose to visit. We are not a party to those transactions and accept no liability for them.

Acceptable use

You may use the site for any lawful, personal-discovery purpose. You may not use automated tools to scrape the directory at a rate that affects normal site operation, attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the infrastructure, or use the site to harass, defame, or impersonate any cinema, distributor, or individual. Bulk reuse of our editorial copy or curated film descriptions requires written permission. Working journalist guidelines on the fair use of curated databases cover most non-commercial editorial reuse cases.

User submissions

Listing requests, corrections, and other materials you submit to ScreenTimes may be incorporated into the directory at our discretion. By submitting material, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use it for the operation and promotion of the directory. You retain ownership of your underlying content. Standard contributor agreements published by industry trade groups are a useful comparison if you have questions about the scope of the license above.

Third-party links

The directory contains links to cinema websites, distributor pages, and other third-party resources. We are not responsible for the content, availability, or practices of those external sites. Your use of any third-party site is governed by the terms of that site.

Disclaimer of warranties

The site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any information on the site. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ScreenTimes and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the site, including loss of data, missed screenings, or travel expenses incurred in reliance on directory information.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York County.
